Overview

RokStories is a great module to display your articles and accompanying images as a featured item. The module itself is facilitated by Mootools to transition between images and articles seamlessly. Perfect for showcasing featured articles on your site.

The module provides a plethora of configuration options and parameters to give you more control over how your dynamic content is displayed as well as providing a lightweight and fast loading experience.

Features

  • Content & Graphic Transition: The module transitions both content and images, of which are configurable.
  • Section/Category Chooser: The module can display contents from specific a section or category
  • Customizable Opacity: Thumbnails can be set from transparent to opaque
  • Navigation Interactions: Parameters to set whether to change news by clicking or hovering over the thumbnails

Import Data

RokStories is accompanied by Sample Data, 3 example articles, 3 large showcase images and 3 small thumbnail images. Unfortunately, due to limitations in Joomla, you cannot install sample data with modules, therefore we have created a button to import the data after installation (see screenshot below). In the Joomla Administrator, go to Extensions → Module Manager → RokStories and hit the Import Sample Data button to import the content.

Requirements

The requirements for the extension are listed below:-
  • Joomla 1.5x - Ensure that you are using the latest version for compatibility and security purposes from Joomla.org
  • RokModule - this is a free component that we offer that facilitates the use of Ajax, you can download it from the Extensions section in RokDownloads.

Live Examples

RokStories, with its default styling, is shown above. The appearance will be standard across all Joomla sites, unless the template you are using has individualised CSS and images to provide an integrated, rather than generic look, for the extension. Below is a list of live examples of integrated styling from our Joomla Template Club themes:- Note: the examples shown below are styles from the Joomla Template Club themes only and do not accompany the free module itself.
  • Refraction - the June 2009 release was the second release or RokStories, embracing the transparent nature of the theme.
  • SolarSentinel - the May 2009 release was the debut of RokStories being displaying in the showcase/feature area of the template.
